As a dedicated and accomplished student of Seward High School’s senior class of 2025, Jordan Hartman has impacted our school and community. From being the vice president of the student council to spending time with animals at the barn, Jordan finds time to give all her love and attention to everything she does.
For the last 4 years on the volleyball court, she’s become a decorated athlete and a valuable asset to her team. When asked, winning the Valdez tournament was one of her favorite memories of her freshman year, and it’s what sparked her goal to be the “Most Valuable Setter” at that tournament. When her junior season rolled around, she accomplished just that.
Playing volleyball has been a passion of hers since 6th grade. However, a few other hobbies hide beneath the surface. Jordan enjoys playing card games with her family, kayaking and paddle boarding (whenever she gets the chance), and the nightly games of front-yard wiffle ball in the summer. She’ll make a delicious breakfast sandwich but don’t ask this 12-year senior for a gourmet meal.
When asked who her biggest inspiration is, Jordan says, “My momma, who graduated from Seward High, is the one who truly pushes me to be the best that I can be.” With that in mind, there are a couple of things she wishes she had known before she started high school: “Everything can change fast,” she says, “and a B on your report card won’t kill you.” Pushing herself to be the best has always been a priority. Her biggest competitor has always been herself.
It’s been stated that animals take up a lot of Jordan’s time. She always had a childhood dog growing up, and recently has taken on the responsibility of a chinchilla and a rabbit from the animal shelter. Of course, the horses have been a monumental part of her life since she was young, and competing in an annual 4-H horse show for the past four years has been a key highlight of each of her summers.
Although her time at Seward High is ending, this driven, big-hearted, and spirited senior is gearing up for the next steps for her future. Post-high school, Jordan knows she wants to have animals in her career. Horses have been a true love for her since she was five years old, and she hopes to attend a school with an equine science program to learn more about the animals that have been “near and dear to [her] heart.” Being the FFA Chapter President, which is something she has dedicated her time to since middle school, will give her college application the adorned look it deserves to accomplish her dreams.
Now that she is leaving Seward High School, she gives the upcoming freshman class these words of wisdom, ”Stress less and be your best.” Meaning take control of your high school experience; go enjoy yourself because this is a time you won’t be able to get back. Don’t worry about the essay due at the end of the week! Take time to make yourself the best and happiest you can be.
Good Luck Jordan!
