After many triumphs, graduating senior Kyana Hutchinson is ready to branch off from Seward High and take on the world. Known for her dedication, enthusiasm, and joyful personality, Kyana has made a lasting impression on her peers and teachers.
Kyana hopes to leave a mark on Seward High School as, “the girl who always was involved in volleyball,” and doing so, she finished her last season as a decorated member of the Seahawks. Making all-tourney teams four times this year and six times prior, along with other various awards, Kyana leaves the team as an inspirational captain and teammate. Going to state twice in her high school career, the first time her freshman year and the last time her senior year, she exclaims, “With every game, I have become more confident and more thoughtful of my actions.” These traits will last her a lifetime as she continues her success playing volleyball in college for an undecided team in the Lower 48.
Her dedication to sports has not gone unnoticed, as several colleges are recruiting her for volleyball! She has been actively involved in various extracurricular activities, volleyball being her most dedicated hobby. She has enjoyed meeting new friends on this team and from different teams. Additionally, she has played basketball; she appreciated the strong family-like companionship between her and her teammates. Sports have impacted her life immensely. She gives appreciation to her parents who have always been her biggest supporters! Outside of school, Kyana enjoys playing games with friends, participating in club volleyball, hiking, and spending time with her parents.
Looking ahead, Kyana plans to attend college, with options on both the West and East Coasts playing volleyball. Her goal is to find a job she loves and is passionate about. She is determined to make her parents proud and continue to grow personally and professionally. She notes that one of her biggest inspirations has been Mrs. Ransom. Her help and hard work through Kyana’s high school experience have made the road a little less bumpy and school a lot less stressful.
Kyana’s high school journey has been filled with memorable moments, but one that stands out is when her classmate put a piece of wire in the electrical socket, causing sparks to fly. This incident provided a thrilling story but became a fond memory that will stay with her after she leaves Seward High.
An important lesson she has learned is that high school does not require an excessive bundle of school supplies! On a more academic note, she has found a balance between class work, extra-curriculars, and personal life by prioritizing what needs to be finished first. Kyana shares this advice to underclassmen, “Do not make unnecessary drama; it’ll make it easier for you to have friends in the future.” Kyana says her friends made school extra enjoyable. Life is better with some laughter.
The journey for Kyana has been illustrated by growth, achievements, and memorable moments. As she prepares to take the next step, she leaves a lasting impression on Seward High School. We wish you luck Kyana, and we are sad to see you go.
