My Wand is Bigger Than Yours: An In-Depth Look at Students and Their Houses

Shelby Sieminski and Sophia Dow

Seward High is the real life Hogwarts in a mystical disguise to make us all appear as unproductive slugs in the muggle eye. In reality, we are all highly productive wizards, witches, and warlocks arguing over things such as wand size and which house is the best. The zesty variety of this school is about as diverse as they come. The halls are crawling with Hufflepuffs, Gryffindors, Ravenclaws, Slytherins, and those in denial of their sorted house. Fellow Slytherin, Sophia Dow is known to have the skills to predict other wizards’ and witches’ houses before they even take the Pottermore quiz. Some call her the living breathing sorting hat.

Sadly, some are still in denial of their house. Shelby Sieminski took the quiz last summer after Sophia’s non-stop nagging. When she was sorted into The Hufflepuff house, she was dazed and confused with a hint of anger. Tuesday, December 10th, she retook the quiz, so she could answer the questions with her “deepest of heart.” The results to the second quiz is the same as the last. Now, Shelby has fully accepted her house and is embracing her Hufflepuff nature.

Katelyn Lemme wanted in on the fun and logged in to Pottermore.com to find she had already taken the quiz and was sorted into Ravenclaw house. Angrily, she deleted her account and retook the quiz only to receive the Ravenclaw again! Obviously, the quiz does not lie, so there is no reason to be in denial.

Remember, our fellow Slytherin and sorting hat Sophia Dow predicted that Shelby would be a Hufflepuff and Katelyn a Ravenclaw!

Jonah Lindquist, another wizard Sophia correctly sorted before the quiz, has been thrown into the Gryffindor house. Jonah, unlike some, feels “good” about being a Gryffindor. A newer Gryffindor, Lucas Brockman, is not quite sure how he feels about his new house, but he is surely not in denial.

John Moriarty is one of the very few Slytherins at Seward High. He enjoys his Slytherin nature and enjoys, “[being] superior to any other houses.” Mr.Hinders loves being a Slytherin because, “all girls love bad boys.” John, Mr.Hinders, along with Sophia Dow are the only known Slytherins at Seward High.

No matter the house, all wizards are valuable (except Hufflepuffs). It is very important to embrace your house, and become the most powerful wizard, witch, or warlock you can be. As the king of the wizards Dumbldore once said, “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live!” EMBRACE YOUR HOUSE, BRETHREN!
