Don’t Miss the Super Unusual Super Moon

Lindy Guernsey

You don’t want to miss the moon at its biggest and brightest on Sunday night November 13, or early Monday morning November 14, because you won’t have the chance to see it like that again until 2034. At this time, the moon will be closer to the earth than it has ever been since 1948.
A supermoon happens when the moon is at its closest to earth and full at the same time. During this time, it will appear larger and brighter. Also, a very high tide is expected because of the supermoon.
Supermoons do happen multiple times a year; by definition, they are when coincidentally the moon is full when it is closest to earth in orbit. This moon will be exceptional because it will be closer to the earth than it has come in the last 68 years.
You should be able to see the supermoon on Sunday night or Monday morning if it is not too cloudy. For best viewing, do so away from artificial lights.
