Junior, Addison Gerlach, is someone who consistently puts in the effort both inside and outside the classroom. Due to her dedication, involvement, and positive attitude at school, Addison has been selected as Seward High School’s December Student of the Month. Being recognized for her hard work means a lot to her, and she appreciates having her time and commitment to school acknowledged.
Addison stays busy with a wide range of extracurricular activities, including cheerleading, National Honor Society, debate, and Battle of the Books. She enjoys the variety these activities offer and the outreach they provide. Through the NHS specifically, Addison enjoys the chance to give back and help others, which helps her stay more involved in the community.
Outside of school, Addison loves art, being outdoors, and going hiking as ways to relax and connect with nature. Spending time with her siblings is also something that takes up a lot of her time. She enjoys watching them grow up and taking advantage of the time she has with them before she moves to the next stage of her life, wherever that may take her.
In the classroom, she enjoys subjects that keep her engaged, with Ms. Swander’s Language Arts being one of her favorite subjects because of how interactive it is. She admits that sometimes she procrastinates, especially on larger assignments, but when deadlines approach, she knows how to lock in and focus on getting things done.
One teacher who has had a lasting impact on her academic journey is Mrs. Beck, who taught her in elementary school and continues to support her today. Addison appreciates that even when Mrs. Beck is tough, it comes from a place of love and encouragement.
Looking ahead, she hopes to continue improving her grades and eventually discover a career path she feels passionate about. Much of her motivation comes from wanting to be a good role model for her siblings, which pushes her to keep working hard to set a good example.
When asked what advice she would give to other students, Addison says, “Don’t procrastinate, it only makes things more stressful.”
Overall, Addison’s effort, positive attitude, and involvement really show why she is deserving of December’s Student of the Month. Keep up the good work, Addison!
