Liberty Hart, a new senior here at Seward High School reads lots of fantasy realism books in their free time. Her favorite book is the classic Black Beauty. To add to that, they listen to music, and go on walks. Her music taste is a wide variety of rock, metal, alternative and, here and there, some rap and K-pop.
Although they don’t participate in any school sports, Liberty volunteers a lot of her time during school to help with journalism and the yearbook. They have lots of knowledge about photography and editing, and she has helped teach the yearbook staff to improve their skills. When asked why they do it, they said, “I think it’s fun, and I find it very fulfilling.” Also, her efforts led her to receive the student of the month award for December.
After high school, she plans on going to college for politics and hopes to become the future president. When that day comes, she says “vote for me!” They have applied for three colleges and are waiting to hear back for acceptance.
Liberty has many cool facts that set her aside from most of our student body. She practices Hellenistic polytheism; she is currently worshiping a Greek god called Hecate, the god of magic and witchcraft. Their beliefs surround the tree of life and all gods. In addition to her beliefs, her hobbies include writing and learning about dead words like where they come from and why they aren’t used anymore. Surprisingly, she is also a natural blonde.
Liberty says they will miss the freedom at Seward High. She said, “My old school was really conservative compared to here.” They believe the teachers here are more accepting and laid back, which makes it easier for them to go with the flow.
Her advice for the freshmen is to ”balance your school life well. Focus on school but don’t forget to live your life.”
