SHS senior Greyson “Jack” Gardner is a man of many words, proverbs, and tall tales, most of which are not appropriate enough to be written here. Often seen around school with his signature mullet, cowboy hat, and gallon jug of sweet tea, he has become an icon of the class of 2025.
An undeniable talent on the football field, Gardner began playing in his freshman year, and became the backup for center James Milburn. He has been the starting center since Milburn’s graduation. His role in helping lead the Seahawks to their first nine-man state championship (and currently 12-game winning streak) is irrefutable. Wearing the character-defining number 69, he serves as a captain, key team member and a mentor to incoming freshmen. “[I’m] trying to lead sometimes, with the underclassmen, y’know, tell them what’s right, and what’s wrong. I’m not a role model but you know, I’ve been around the block a time or two.”
Jack has been in Seward schools since kindergarten (which may make one reconsider their quality of education). “It’s been fun, y’know, freshman year, I had some good seniors to look up to, that [sic] kinda took me under their wing, and helped me figure out the whole high school thing.”
An aspiring blue collar king, he expressed interest in attending trade school, with hopes of doing so on a football scholarship, as well as following the “live fast, die young” attitude.
